Betina Hunt is a dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and advocate committed to empowering women and youth. A proud native of Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee, she is a graduate of South Side High School and pursued her passion for finance at the University of Tennessee at Martin, majoring in accounting. With nearly 30 years of experience in both public and private sector accounting, Betina has leveraged her expertise to strengthen businesses and drive impactful community initiatives.
As an ordained minister, coach, and strategist, Betina is devoted to inspiring and equipping women to lead purpose-driven lives—both inside prison walls and in communities nationwide. She firmly believes in the power of faith, embodying the scripture: “Whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive it” (Matthew 21:22).
A passionate advocate for menstrual equity, Betina is at the forefront of efforts to end period poverty. She spearheaded the creation of Period Advocacy Day on the Hill, raising awareness and pushing for legislative change in menstrual health policies. She has played a pivotal role in supporting Senate Bill 0188 and House Bill 813, which aim to expand access to essential hygiene products and address period poverty on a systemic level.
Betina’s commitment to women’s empowerment extends beyond advocacy. As the former President of the Greater Memphis Chapter of the International Association of Women, she led a diverse network across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi, providing a platform for connection, learning, and professional growth. Her leadership has helped countless women break barriers and achieve success in their respective fields.
In 2023, Betina was crowned the first Ms. Tennessee Corporate America, a prestigious title recognizing professional women leaders who are innovators and influencers in their industries. This achievement underscores her dedication to championing workplace equality and empowering women in business.
As the Founder and President of You First Community Foundation, Betina is dedicated to reducing recidivism and ending period poverty. Through initiatives like the ReStart Reentry Program and Sister Keepers Youth Mentoring Program, she provides mentorship, skill-building, and workforce development opportunities for justice-impacted women and female juveniles. Her work is breaking cycles of hardship and paving pathways to success, ensuring that every woman and girl has the resources to build a brighter future.
An award-winning international speaker, coach, author, and entrepreneur, Betina has transformed her passion for people into a thriving enterprise. She is the owner of BU Beauty & Apparel and the BU Be Uncommon Clothing Line, inspiring confidence and self-expression through fashion. As the founder of Premier Bookkeeping and Accounting Services, she educates entrepreneurs and business leaders on financial sustainability and recession-proof strategies. Her expertise has positioned her on national and international platforms, sharing the stage with renowned speakers like Les Brown and George Fraser, using her voice to drive meaningful change.
